InfraGard: Now with “Shoot to Kill” Action!

infragard

Since its humble beginnings as an FBI project in 1996, InfraGard has quietly grown, under the radar of most Americans, into a force of approximately 23,000 members of FBI and private industry. These private business people partner with the FBI to provide information on people and events that will allow the FBI to “prevent and address terrorism and other crimes.” In return, the FBI provides the business people with “access to information that enables them to protect their assets.”

InfraGard is now under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security. The ACLU has long been critical of the program, saying that it affords too much power with not enough oversight to people who should not be entrusted with matters of national security. InfraGard members are being given information pertaining to national security even before government officials have word, in some cases.

In a recent report from Matthew Rothschild, the latest alarming news about InfraGard comes out: members are authorized to “shoot to kill” to protect their business interests.
